Regarding NICU pads!! Here are the instructions for making them. If you have flannel you don’t know what to do with – then do this: ALL flannel must be washed in HOT water and dried. Press. Then the process is simple. Take 2 pieces of flannel right sides together and cut them into 1 of 2 sizes – 8 1/2″ x 10 12″ or 10 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ – sew 1/4″ around the edge, leaving a space to turn them right sides out. Press. Then topstitch all the way around, and then sew an ‘X’ from corner to corner to hold them together. Let’s see how many we can each make between now and the August meeting!!

I hope that someone will bring all that extra flannel to the August meeting because I will help, but cannot do so until August meeting. – Jo Anna Gorthy

*** an additional bit of info for NICU pads. After you turn them and press, stitch close to the edge all the way around and then again 1/4″ in from the edge – this gives the pads stability to withstand all the washings in the hospital washers….then proceed from there. Thanks!
